Following this series, Simona Rota published two photography books, "Missbehave" (Vibok Works Sevilla, 2013) and "Ostalgia" (Fabulatorio, Kursala, Cádiz, 2013). "Ostalgia" won the D&AD In Book Award for books (Design & Art Direction, UK, 2014) and the Award to the Best Photography Book of the Year PHotoEspaña (Spain, 2014).
Her work has been distinguished in national and international contests such as PHotoEspaña Descubrimientos, the Photography Award Purificación García (2012), the International Festival of Photography Emergent Pati de la Llotja, Fotonoviembre Biennial (2011), the IVth Prize for Plastic Arts of the Foundation María José Jove, the award Emergent of the Foundation Sorigué (2010), the Photography Award of the Museum of Architecture in Vienna (2009).

Simona Rota's photographs has been exhibited at the Kursala, the Sevastopol Art Museum, the StadtMuseum Graz, the Architektur Zentrum Wien, the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín in Colombia, the TUM Architecture Museum of Munich, the Museo del Traje de Madrid and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. Her work has also been selected and exhibited in Fotonoviembre 13, Arles Photobooks 13, Art Week Vienna 12, and SCAN 12 among others.

Also collaborating with Office for Strategic Spaces since 2011, Simona Rota is involved in the promotion of the documentary film "The Competition" directed by Ángel Borrego Cubero.
